Saturday Morning Watchmen
SF Signal —
What?!? 2 hours went by without a single Watchmen reference? Well, let's put a fix to that right now!
This comes via that great purveyor of retro pop culture, Chris Roberson. It's Saturday Morning Watchmen. There are quite a few references to the graphic novel. But you've read that already, haven't you? ...
The Version Of Watchmen The Studio Wanted [Watchmen]
io9 —
So we know what's been cut and how it was made, but what would have become of Watchmen had Zack Snyder not put his foot down with the studio? (And thank god he did.) The first thing that director Zack Snyder ever revealed about the studio's planned "changes" to Watchmen was: the studio wanted to take it out of the 80s. He told us this back in October, but still felt like worth mentioning if we're going to list off all the hoops Snyder had to jump through just to get Watchmen where it is today. So the first edit he had to deal with was updating Watchmen to the 00s and the war on terror. ...

Does this scene from The Watchmen look X-rated to you?
Mike Brotherton: SF Writer —
Movieguide protests The Watchmen’s R-rating:
“This movie contains extreme violence, nudity, and sex, including rape” said Dr. Ted Baehr, chairman and spokesmen of the Commission. “Throughout most of the whole picture, one male character walks around completely naked, with his private parts waving in the breeze.
“This kind of content used to be rated X or NC-17,” Dr. Baehr added. “The motion picture industry keeps changing its standards. No wonder the MPAA’s rating system confuses parents.”
Dr. Baehr said, “The MPAA office told us that it would bring our ...

I had the good fortune to sit in on the ItsJustSomeRandomGuy panel at NY Comic Con, and ever since then, I’ve kept up with RandomGuy’s “I’m a Marvel, and I’m a DC” clips via his Twitter. You’d think RandomGuy would be hard-pressed to top the mockery of 2008’s bumper crop of comic book adaptations.
Then he paired Rorschach with Wolverine and let them have an Inner Monologue-Off:
[The rest, as they say, is history. Warped, perverse history.]
The video is, as ever, biting and insightful about the furious inconsistencies of marketing logic when applied to ...

Video: Watchmen opening credits and a spoof
Club Jade —
The opening sequence of Watchmen is pretty fantastic: It lays out some of the background of the movie’s world of alternate history and costumed heroes. Made me pretty hopeful to see the movie! Below the cut, something that would really make Alan Moore cry.
A Taste of Saturday Morning Watchmen
Fan Cinema Today —
Along with the release of the Watchmen movie this weekend came the surprise discovery of Saturday Morning Watchmen, a goofy animated fan film that drops Alan Moore’s diabolical R-Rated comic book into the G-Rated waters of a typical 1980s DIC cartoon. It’s torn up the internet, going seriously viral the last few days, but if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s below.
What this yet another viral video effort by Warner Brothers? Nope, it was done by amateur animator Harry Partridge, as he revealed over on NewGrounds.com:
Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback I’ve gotten so ...
