  Ok, time to speculate. I can't imagine he would return as the Doctor--that wouldn't make sense. Unless there's an episode where he comes face-to-face with his (long) past self...which could be cool, as well as, you know, an awesome feat of casting :D

Kasterborous Doctor Who Site — So, we get this rumour once a year, and however lovely and nostalically nice it might seem, let's face it, it is unlikely to happen. Sky TV of all places reckon that Tom - the legendary and iconic Fourth Doctor - is making a return to the show in the next full series of Doctor Who , in 2010. Apparently the BBC and Tom's agency have declined to comment on the rumour - although we can only take Sky's word for it that they've even been asked. Such a return would make the return of Paul McGann look like a regular piece of casting... no one knows yet what role Tom may or may not be ...
