EmilyBlips How could they not greenlight it when it's so highly anticipated? ;D
And the oddest news of the week...
Battlestar Galactica Fan Community —
You remember Caprica? The BSG prequel. That was made as a TV movie but sci-fi doesn't seem eager to air. There were rumors last week it may never air. Not so fast. Caprica Greenlight for series Perhaps they just realized with Stargate ending they are a little short on original programming and they certainly have enough reality shows that have little to nothing to do with Sci-Fi. (What's next? Tag! You're it!)
SciFi Channel greenlights CAPRICA to series
GALACTICA SITREP —
From Variety this evening: Sci Fi Channel has greenlit "Caprica," the much-anticipated prequel to hit series "Battlestar Galactica." "Caprica" will star Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales, Paula Malcomson and Polly Walker, and will be set 50 years prior to "Galactica's" seminal attack on human civilization by those dreaded 'droids the Cylons. Family-drama-themed series will focus on the Earthlike planet of Caprica as two rival families deal with, among other topical issues, the broader implications of their society's emerging artificial intelligence technology sector. Produced by Universal Cable Prods., "Caprica" will be exec ...

• The SciFi Channel has finally, finally, greenlit the Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica, envisioning it as BSG set in the '50s without spaceships. I predict the first space battle will occur before the Season 1 is out.
• I hated The Matrix Reloaded, but it did result in one priceless artifact: Will Farrell's spot-on parody of the Architect's pseudo-philosophical blithering.
• John Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack on Torchwood, exposed himself on the BBC over the weekend. One person complained.
• It's the 30th anniversary of ...
TV Round-Up
The Wertzone —
Battlestar Galactica's final ten episodes start airing on 16 January, but spin-off series Caprica has been greenlit for a full first season, which will debut in 2010. The extra-long wait is due to BSG's writing staff having scattered to other shows in the interim and needing some time before they can head back to the barn. Caprica's cast from the completed pilot (including Rome's Polly Walker and film actor Eric Stoltz) need some time to regroup as well. Caprica is set 55 years prior to BSG and chronicles the creation of the Cylons and the count-down to the ...

What happened, J.J.? Your relaunched Star Trek has tumbled all the way off the list from first place last week. Is it disinterest? Disaster? Nope, it's just been an incredibly busy week in the land of science fiction. Between Terminator, Watchmen, and a surprising amount of scifi television, there's just no room for the final frontier. But Trek at least deserves a nod in this week's introduction. As does George Lucas, who is publicly acknowledging the existence of the Star Wars Christmas Special -- which was so amazingly horrible that he's kept it locked in a vault for decades -- in interviews on the official ...
