... "Forry" Ackerman died in LA on 4 December from heart failure after a long illness. We interviewed Ackerman back in 2005 and he showed SFX some of his treasures. He was a genre fan, actor, literary agent, editor and collector, a man credited with discovering Ray Bradbury and with coining the term "sci-fi" in 1954. He founded the pulp magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland, and owned a large private collection of movie and literary memorabilia. More details at Boing Boing and io9 .
