Bad News From Outer Space — A meteorite crate in Latvia is a phony, according to this AP news item on Yahoo News. At 27 feet wide and 9 feet deep, that's a buttload of effort to try and pull the wool over the eyes of Latvian scientists (motto: "We're LATVIA. We have nothing to do with Latveria, the home of Dr. Doom."). The "crater" was even smoking when lead science guy Uldis Nulle (which SOUNDS like the name of a Fantastic Four villian!) showed up on scene, tricorder and beakers in hand.
