Take, for example, the BBC Archive collection of documents related to "The Genesis of Doctor Who." We get to read the original in-house reports discussing bringing science fiction to the BBC. Of course we know that they ended up producing Doctor Who, but it's quite interesting to read about the other stories they considered. The BBC have released some documents that detail some of the development of Doctor Who, from a feasibility brief to the first audience feedback data. It’s a great read, especially knowing what we know now. To think they specified no robots or bug eyed aliens! I recommend checking it out.
